Is acupuncture painful?
Usually acupuncture is painless!
Occasionally a slight amount of pain can be felt it is usually nothing like the pain of an injection. Injection needles are much thicker and hollow.
If a needle does cause pain we will remove it and replace it so no pain is felt while needles are inserted.
You may experience other feelings of distension or tingling but not pain. You may feel very relaxed and calm. You may find you sleep better and are more relaxed following treatment.
What will happen during my first visit?
We will take your medical history and a physical examination will take place.
Undressing to your under wear for the examination and treatment may be required, so it is best to wear modest and comfortable underwear.
Treatment will take place, if appropriate, during your first visit.
Patients react differently to treatment so we tend to treat conservatively during the first visit. This is used to gauge your response and gauge future appropriate doses of acupuncture.
The first visit lasts between 45mins and hour. Subsequent treatments last 30 mins.
It can be common after your first treatment to feel a little tired or lightheaded, you may also feel the opposite and become very happy and elated in either case your mood should soon normalise with often a positive bias.
What are your fees?
£55 for the initial consultation.

Will I be charged if I cancel an appointment?

A change in your work commitments does not constitute an acceptable reason for cancellation.

How many treatments are needed?
We all react differently and have different complaints. We normally expect to see some improvement within 3-6 treatments.
